Type & Politics | Freeing Arabic Type from ideological connotations
Unlike when spotting Japanese letters Arabic Type tends to evoke emotions these days. Letters itself as an abstract writing system are not capable of this. More than ever our perceptions are being influenced by social, political and cultural tensions. We organize workshops and lectures to ease this by encouraging cultural exchange and transfer of knowledge.

Berlin Academy of Arts Weißensee 2019 – Lecture and typography workshop
The students of visual communication participated in one-day program. Learned more about Arabic/Persian Letters, its cultural backgrounds, reflecting the current political situations related to immigrants in our society, Arabic/Persian alphabet and typing system and its history, Practiced Arabic typography and learned how to impleament their indivitual designs through silkscreen printing skill.
Many parameters don’t make Arabic type just appear strange and exotic like many other non-latin alphabets but rather create bad feelings and marginalise its cultural value.
